It was great to see a strong turnout for the Yandanooka Hall Consultation held on Wednesday, 22 July 2026 at the Mingenew Recreation Centre, with community members coming together to discuss the future of the Yandanooka Hall.

Michelle Bagley provided a brief overview of the history of the Hall and its management over the years, before Shire CEO Matt Fanning outlined information relating to the Hall’s current condition, required repairs, insurance considerations and the options available to the Shire.

While no decision was made at the meeting, as further information is still required to be verified and confirmed with the Shire’s insurers, there was clear support among those present for two potential options, subject to the insurance outcome.

These were either to construct a new Hall of a similar nature and scale to the existing building, or, alternatively, for the Shire to consider disposing of the land through sale.

The Shire acknowledges the importance of the Yandanooka Hall to the community and appreciates the constructive discussion and feedback provided by those who attended.

A further community consultation session will be scheduled once the outstanding insurance information has been received and other relevant details have been confirmed. This will provide an opportunity for the community to consider the updated information and discuss the options further.

The Shire will provide details of the next consultation session once a date has been confirmed.
