To better manage our natural environment, reduce unauthorised dumping of waste and improve our regulatory compliance, the Shire of Mingenew has transitioned from a landfill facility to a Waste Transfer Station.
Access to the Waste Transfer Station is currently managed through an electronic tag system – see details below.
All visitors to the Transfer Station must comply with Conditions of Entry which are displayed at the entrance. Enclosed shoes and suitable attire must be worn. The speed limit is 10km/h.
Where possible please consider reducing, reusing or recycling before disposing of waste to ensure a more sustainable approach to waste management.
Waste Transfer Station
Opening Hours: Everyday during daylight hours (currently 6am-6pm)
Contractors and personnel can arrange access to the Transfer Station outside regular operating hours by appointment. To schedule, please contact the Shire.
Access to Transfer Station
Entry to the Mingenew Transfer Station may be gained via an electronic gate and access tag system only. This system allows the facility to be accessible by local residents, businesses, contractors operating in the Shire and ratepayers outside of Mingenew with a shared property boundary with the Shire.
The Transfer Station is accessible during daylight hours, depending on the season, currently 6am – 6pm.
To obtain an access tag, a Registration Form must be completed by the ratepayer, ratepayer and tenant/occupier or contractor and returned to the Shire Administration and an access tag will be issued, along with instructions to use. Residents or business operators renting or occupying a property may be granted authorisation by the ratepayer (ratepayer signature required) to gain a tag for use by their household / business (only one tag per household / business will be issued).
Anyone who has completed the process and been issued a tag can commence using the new electronic gate at any time from now, during daylight hours (currently accessible 6am-6pm). Registration Forms may be downloaded from the Shire website, obtained from the Shire Administration or can be emailed on request (call 9928 1102 or email enquiries@mingenew.wa.gov.au).
Contractors and authorised ratepayers outside of the Shire will be charged a fee, as per the Shire’s Fees & Charges.
The new system ensures the Transfer Station is more accessible to local ratepayers and residents and enables the Shire to reduce management costs.
Please note that video surveillance is operating on the premises so please act responsibly and in good faith, and ensure you follow all safety and directional signage.
Each household / business in the Shire of Mingenew will be permitted an access tag to the Mingenew Transfer Station at no charge.
Property owners must complete and sign the ‘Transfer Station Access Tag Registration Form’ to collect their tag and/or to permit an occupier of another residence/business on a property they own, to be issued with a tag.
Details of both the owner and occupier / tenant are collected on the form.
Ratepayers outside of Mingenew that have a Shared Property Boundary with the Shire of Mingenew, may also obtain an access tag and pay the relevant fees at the Shire Administration. The tag will be valid for one year, after which time eligible ratepayers will need to re-apply.
Shared Property Boundary means the landowner owns property that shares a border with the Shire of Mingenew boundary line.
