Western Power has kicked off an important program treating more than 19,000 power poles by helicopter across the Mid West and Wheatbelt regions – including right here in the Shire of Mingenew.
This work applies a silicone treatment to insulators to help prevent pole-top fires, particularly during harvest when dust and humidity can increase the risk. Using helicopters allows crews to complete the job efficiently and safely across vast areas. Over 60,000 poles will be treated by mid-2026, boosting network safety and reliability for homes and businesses.
