We are pleased to announce that at the Special Council meeting held 28 October 2025, Cr Hellene McTaggart was elected unopposed as Shire President and Cr Jonathan Holmes was elected unopposed as Deputy President.

Cr McTaggart has been an active member of Council since 2019 and supported the President as Deputy from November 2023.

Cr Holmes was elected in November 2021 and is a lifelong resident of the Shire of Mingenew.

The Shire acknowledges and thanks retired President Gary Cosgrove. Gary Cosgrove is a highly respected and dedicated Elected Member who has made a significant and distinguished contribution to local government over more than 14 years of service to the Shire of Mingenew, including six years as Shire President. His leadership has left a lasting impact on the Mingenew community, the region, and the wider local government sector in Western Australia. The Shire of Mingenew extends its sincere thanks to Gary for his exceptional service and commitment and wishes him all the very best in his retirement from Council.
