Public Health Priorities Survey 2026
30 April 2026

The Shire of Mingenew is inviting community members to have their say as part of the development of our Local Public Health Plan.

Under the Public Health Act 2016, all local governments in Western Australia are required to prepare a Public Health Plan by June 2026. This plan will guide how the Shire supports and promotes the health and wellbeing of our community over the coming years.

What is a Public Health Plan?

A Public Health Plan helps identify the key factors that influence health and wellbeing in our community and outlines practical actions to address them.

Health and wellbeing is about more than just medical services. It includes things like:

  • Access to recreation and open spaces
  • Community connection and social opportunities
  • Safety and the local environment
  • Access to information and support services
  • Opportunities for active and healthy lifestyles

While many health services are delivered by other organisations, local government plays an important role in providing facilities, supporting programs, sharing information, and advocating for improved services.

Why Your Input Matters

Community feedback is a vital part of developing the plan. It helps us understand:

  • What is already working well in Mingenew
  • The challenges people face in staying healthy
  • Which issues matter most to our community
  • Where the Shire should focus its efforts

Your input will directly inform the priorities and actions included in the final Public Health Plan.

Have Your Say

We are seeking feedback through a short community survey.

📝 The survey takes approximately 5–7 minutes to complete and is open to all residents, workers and visitors to the Shire.

All responses are anonymous, and results will be used to guide future planning and decision-making.

What Happens Next?

Feedback from the survey will be reviewed alongside local data and community insights to identify key priority areas.

These priorities will then be used to develop a set of practical actions that the Shire can deliver, support, or advocate for over the next five years.

The draft Public Health Plan will be presented to Council and shared with the community.
