Mingenew Midwest Expo

Join us at the largest agricultural trade and lifestyle event in the Midwest of WA.

Celebrating its 40th year in 2023!

The Mingenew Midwest Expo is a major event for our shire. With over 200 leading industry experts showcasing their agricultural and farming knowledge, the expo offers an exciting and rare chance to interact with multiple innovators from a wide range of farm based industries. The Midwest’s largest agricultural field day occurs in mid-August and sees thousands of visitors from many neighboring towns, farms and cities head to the Shire of Mingenew to engage with a multitude of agricultural and show based events.

Local Mingenew Lions Club member Bob Paskins developed the expo all the way back in 1983. Bob had a strong vision to ensure businesses were able to provide essential information regarding farming and agricultural expertise, to a vast range of local community members. The expo still hold’s strong the initial vision to promote and educate the modern community on the future of farming, and how the advancements of technology can positively assist WA’s farming communities.

The Mingenew Expo has evolved to incorporate a large variety of activities, competitions, and exhibits for the whole family. It’s definitely worth a visit. So, ‘We’ll see you in Mingenew’.

Mingenew Races – (Cancelled)

Sadly, thanks to COVID, the organisers of the almighty Mingenew Races have had to call this year’s event off. Not only was it shaping up to be a huge day out, it is also a Centenary Year and was destined to be the biggest and best race day ever. Nevertheless, Mingenew doesn’t take things lying down and soon we will be out and about with all you need to know about the 2023 Centenary version, at which we sincerely hope to see you there.

It’s now billed as the biggest outdoor event in the world! Well, in the Midwest, of WA. All jokes aside, our race day is a fantastic event and will be even bigger in our centenery year!

Whilst the races themselves are brilliant, Mingenew rolls out the red carpet country town hospitality with entertainment, food and fun happening at most of our outlets such as the hotel, sports club and caravan park. This is a 4-day drama-based workshop program for children aged 7–11 years and is led by Barking Gecko Teaching Artists, details as follows:

  • Tuesday 5 – Friday 8 October from 10am–4pm each day. Kids must attend all 4 days as they will be working towards a short performance as part of the experience.
  • Mingenew Rec Centre
  • $40 per child
  • Registration is essential via https://www.barkinggecko.com.au/the-cicada-experience/ There are only 20 places available so get in quick!
